How it all began...

Michael Bickers

Michael started his retail career with a fashion store in Melbourne’s Chapel Street in the year 2000, owning and operating the business for 5 years. From there his career in Shopping Centre Management commenced through roles as retail / leasing manager at QV through to positions with Westfield, Vicinity and GPT across assets including Doncaster, Chadstone and Highpoint. Seeking a challenge back in the retail landscape, Michael joined True Alliance as Project Manager working on some 40 stores across Australia and New Zealand for brands such as The North Face, Lacoste, Coach, UGG and Under Armour. His passion, drive and desire has always been with small business and in 2018 he established Retail Renaissance with a view to become the leading Business Development Retail Consultant in Australia. 

Our point of difference

We have worked within every aspect of retail – ownership; leasing; project management and property management. We have the skills and experience and most importantly the network and reputation. We do not charge set fees for most of our work – we prefer to work on success as it  ensures our client’s know we are all about delivery. Our other key point of difference and strength is our reputation across many nationalities and cultures with 80% of our clients from the Asian business community as an example. We see ourselves as retail business development managers for all small business operators.

Our business philosophy

Our philosophy is quite simple – we want small business owners to focus on their dreams and their expertise and we look after business development in all its forms. We take time to learn our client’s businesses and vision and we act with integrity, compassion and most importantly passion at every touchpoint we can. If we cannot problem solve or find a solution, we have partners within the industry which can and we will only grow as our client’s businesses grow.
